What are the advantages of Plasma TV?
Probably the three most notable advantages Plasma TVs have over LCD TVs are their ability to produce very good black levels, their wide viewing angles, and a faster response time. Better black levels mean that when you're viewing a black image, the Plasma TV reproduces closer to a true black than an LCD TV, and you'll also see better contrast in the black images. If you're viewing a dark scene in a movie, you'll notice the colour on a good Plasma TV appears black, whereas on even the best LCD TV is appears to be a very dark grey or dark blue. You'll also notice more detail in the Plasma TV on dark scenes. This is because of the LCD TVs are transmissive, and when they're reproducing a black image, they're blocking the light from passing through. A tiny amount of light is able to leak through, which is why LCD TVs are not able to reproduce as good of a black level as Plasma TVs. LCDs have made big improvements in their black levels, but Plasma TV is still better in this area.

Go Online to Buy Hot Consumer Electronics for the Holidays

As in recent years, experts are forecasting that consumer electronics will top wish lists in the upcoming holiday season. And, although some shoppers continue to favour brick-and-mortar stores, an increasing number of consumers are finding better prices and greater selections of consumer electronics through online stores. Gaming systems, cell phones, and Music & Video Players are three categories of consumer electronics that are forecast to be especially hot this holiday season:

Gaming systems. The recent launch of Halo 3 left no doubt among entertainment industry experts that video games and video game consoles can rake in more money than Hollywood movie premieres. Although in some circles Sony's PlayStation has been left holding the bag, PS3 gaming systems are still hot commodities, especially for families with children. As some of the other gaming systems have skewed their video game releases to the teenage and adult markets, PS3 and PS2 systems have remained home to a vast array of kid-friendly games.

Buying Consumer Electronics Online

Online stores don't have the overhead expenses associated with retail a brick-and-mortar store, that’s why they are often able to offer the most popular consumer electronics at rock bottom prices. Plus, online store offer the added bonus of allowing consumers to comparison shop in order to find the best deal on gaming systems, cell phones, and music and DVD players.

For example, some online stores will offer a variety of video games bundled with an Xbox 360, which can literally save consumers hundreds of dollars. Aside from bundled systems and other bargains, there are other factors to consider when choosing an online store to buy consumer electronics. These factors include real-time ordering and online inventory (so your gift won't be stuck on backorder), warehouse shipping (rather than having to wait for a middleman to ship the merchandise), and exceptional customer service (such as timely communication and non minimum purchase requirements).

The Rapid Pace of Evolution in Consumer Electronics

The evolution of consumer electronics, high definition displays, digital broadcasts, displays and media is happening at an increasingly rapid pace. Advancements in technology are occurring much faster than before, reducing the time to deliver new technologies to market at an exponential rate. The algorithm for designing and delivering new technology is nearly a fifty percent reduction in time with every significant breakthrough. With such a rapid race for invention the simultaneous introduction of diverse technologies is as inevitable as price erosion and shortened life cycles for what is considered "new" in consumer electronics.

The Plasma Display Panel was invented at the University of Illinois in 1964 by Donald H Bliter, H Gene Slottow and student Robert Wilson. The original monochrome displays were popular in the early 1970's because they did not require memory or circuitry to refresh the images. By 1983, IBM introduced a 19 inch monochrome display that was able to show four virtual sessions simultaneously.
